Not as good as the star rating would suggest
This is the second time we've stayed here as a family of 11 this year.
on the plus side, there is lots of space in the house for 12 teens/adults, the bedroom to bathroom ratio is really good and a lot better than other places we've stayed.
there is a great games room with a full size snooker table on site which is available to use at your leisure. the kitchen/dining room is a good size and there is flexible table/seating to enable everyone in our party to eat together.
on the negative side: when we were there earlier in the year we were warned that one of the oven doors had been broken and didn't close properly. this was a minor inconvenience, but we coped. It was something of an unwelcome surprise to find that when we arrived for this stay, not only was the oven door still broken, but that it now doesn't close properly and the heat seal around the door is partially missing; this makes cooking very difficult, without the aid of a broom which has to be wedged under the door handle on the oven and against a chair leg. in addition, some of the setting guides on the cooker knobs are unreadable, making it a real challenge to set the oven correctly before using it.
This criticism may seem petty and trivial, but we booked this place for a family weekend and wanted to make use of the oven to cater for our family, not to be reliant on fast food or takeaways.
Having stayed in a great number of 4 or 5* accommodations across England, I do not expect to encounter this kind of stress and challenge when booking accommodation which purports to be of this high standard!
On the basis of our disappointing experience this weekend, I could not recommend staying here to anyone, unless I had firm assurance that the problem with the oven had been rectified.
